Flushed With Rivets……

Robert has sent a further update from the Bathgate Locomotive Works.  The conclusion to the fitting of the smokebox hinges…..

‘These shots show the hinges finally in place with the twists completed so that it lines up nicely with the brackets on the smokebox ring.  More importantly, the door closes flat without any straining of the hinges.  This should give a good seal.

The ring is flush riveted as described previously & I thought you might like to see a couple of close up shots.  Painting is the next job & for that I have obtained a good quality satin finish Stove Paint.

The original had the rivet heads showing, but I like the flush finish.

For a change of scene I have moved to the ‘other end’ & am tackling the tool boxes come wheel splashers that sit in the cab.  More straight forward platework without the fiddly bits!

More updates later…..’
