Bathgate Locomotive Works are on piece work today.
A little problem bracket to make. There was a 1/4” hole already drilled for the fulcrum point of the reversing lever in the framing. There is no room on the outside of the framing because of the wheel to add a support there for the reversing lever shaft. Also the reversing lever needs to be only 1/32” away from the inside of the framing.
I have fitted a temporary lever but the actual one will be 3/8” thick at the base so there will be no gap as shown at the moment.
I have fitted a bracket which is bolted to the framing and also supports the shaft.
Had me puzzled but looks like the best option.
And they say the steam locomotive is a crude piece of machinery.
