The Official Opening Ceremony at Almondell

On Wednesday 23rd August 2023, the Almondell Model Engineering Centre was officially opened after 10 years of hard work by a dedicated group of members from the Edinburgh Society of Model Engineers.

The Official Opening Ceremony was a great success with many members there and invited guests too.
On the operational side of the railway, everything ran like clockwork with the special triple headed train running over the three running tracks for the first time.
BBC Scotland’s Mark Steven,  performed the opening.
The red ribbon was cut with the three rows of waiting locomotives proceeding forward, officially marking the opening of the Almondell Model Engineering Centre.

We were so pleased to invite a range of individuals, groups and sponsors who have supported the project over the years. It was also great to see them all there enjoying the train rides.
