Our Secretary reports that Thursday, 31 May was a memorable day at Almondell. Not only was the bridge top completed, but at long last the level crossing has been completed too.
Robert thought that he would share these photos with us as over the past few weeks he has been continually asked: ‘When are you going to fill the crossing with concrete?’
Well the big day finally came!
The crossing was the last piece of major work required to complete the 7 1/4″ gauge track circuit “C.”
Unfortunately, the delivery was two hours late but thanks to the team who waited all afternoon for the lorry to finally arrive at 15:00. Finishing the concrete surface around the 4 tracks continued until well after 20:00.
The last job was finishing the bridge top.
