RailwayWorkX – An Update

Dale Lyon of Concrete Scotland – ExpLearn has been busy on behalf of our club (ESME) delivering the RailwayWorkX program to secondary schools over the past few months.  These events have been ably supported by a few of our engaging members.

So far, we have seen pupils from:

The Braes High School – Falkirk,  Larbert High School,  St. Kentigerns Academy – Whitburn,  St Mungo’s High School – Falkirk,  Denny High School & Inverkeithing High School attending the day long Experiential Learning activity.

The pupils have been enjoying the experience thoroughly as have our supporting members.  ‘Scamp’ has definitely been earning his keep with over 80 pupils having had a turn driving the engine at Almondell.

This has been a great reward for the pupils who between them have laid some hundred plus metres of ballast and track on the circuits ‘B’ & ‘C’.

It is interesting that even on a couple of wet days the young adults kept themselves fully involved and the only negative comments have been ‘Wish it was for longer’ and the obvious comments about the weather on the wet days.

However, the outstanding success of this program can be seen by these selection of comments:  ‘This Program was excellent as you learnt lots’,  ‘Great course, school should do more of this’,  ‘Very good … good instructors’,  ‘Love it all’.
