May Day Public Open Day…..

Our first open day of 2022 and the rain held off!  The cloudy, cool day did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of both the members and our visitors.

Kris Mcalpine was up early to record the behind the scenes work that goes into getting the railway ready for running the train service:

The event was the first time that we had operated the ‘wheel chair train’

and our first passenger was 11 days old visiting with mum, dad & brothers.

Andrew had the honours of carefully taking them around the circuit!

Our next passenger was helped on board by the team & made comfortable….

And Ruaraidh had the honours of taking the second train carefully round the circuit.

Meanwhile, out on the track Peter takes ‘Grace’, but ends up giving his passengers a Turkish Bath when the safety valves lift…..

Dave carefully brings James’s ‘Black Five’ and his lone passenger down the bank under the watchful eye of the Almondell Controller…..

John has ‘Barbush’ well in hand with the heaviest passenger set….

Followed by Roger and his new petrol / mechanical train.  Trevor was concentrating on the driver experience.

This video shows a complete passenger run around the circuit:

Our next open day is on Sunday, 5th June.
