Familiarisation Day……

Since our last open day in 2021 a lot of maintenance and development work has been ongoing to the infrastructure, rolling stock & members locomotives.  Before we embarked on 2022’s events season it was felt that familiarisation days for members would be good idea to check out locomotives, rolling stock, electronic points, signalling and the timetable.  Plus it was a good excuse for a members gathering!

The weather on the day was kind & there was a good turn out.  Our Roving Reporter was there with his family & his trusty camera…… (click to enlarge images)

The 125 reflects the modern railway scene & will be an attraction for the children who will recognise it more readily.  Sitting on the front seat reminded your editor of his early days trainspotting when sitting behind the driver on the original DMU’s & seeing the track ahead was quite a novelty.

Amazingly for a petrol engined unit it is very quiet too & with the exhaust at the rear no petrol fumes either!

Roger has offered to write an article about its construction, so watch this space!

Our first Public Open Day is Sunday, 1st May.  See the ‘What’s On’ entry for the 1st May for details.
