Another Tricky Job……

Work in the Bathgate Locomotive Works continues apace, although a slight diversion during ‘Storm Francis’ to deal with a leaky Porch delayed work for a while.

The latest photographs show progress with the cab beading & the completion of fixing the smokebox door to the smokebox:

‘Pleased to report that the milling of the slot in the copper went well with only one broken cutter!’

The brass strips for the sliding window have been fited together with the rain strips on the cab roof edge.’

‘The tricky job of fixing the hinges correctly to the smokebox door & the smokebox front such that the door opens square took a long time, but I am now happy with the result.’

‘Now, where is that steel ruler I haven’t seen for a couple of days….??!!’
