Our third open day of the year and our busiest by a long chalk! Happy, smiling customers with happy smiling members made for a great atmosphere of fun & enjoyment for everyone. Even the Sun joined in the smiling! Our Roving Reporter was there with his camera to record the scene. Click to enlarge the image (as ever!) and enjoy the pictures:
Whilst the trains were going through their ‘fitness to run’ exam & the signalling team put the points & signals through their paces our first customers had arrived. The car parking team knew they were in for a busy day!
The mobility train took its first passengers early in the day….
It proved its worth throughout the day. Thank you to the Levenseat Trust.
The team at Drumshoreland Station were kept busy safely shepherding passengers on & off the trains.
The train crew had to snatch a break when they could.
Poor quality coal added a different dimension to ‘engine management’, necessitating cutting a steam engine on & off trains for fire cleaning. This kept the signal team at Almondell Central busy too.
Meanwhile the ‘Driver Experience & Shunting Exercise’ proved popular with young & old alike! Not sure if we have any converts yet, but Christmas is not that far away for the presents list!
Concentrating as they approach the two level crossings. Steady as you go, sound the whistle, got the ‘green’ from Almondell Box, last minute visual check all is clear by the gate & then rumble across the crossings round to ‘Lookaboutye Junction’.
One of the popular trips was behind the 125, we had passengers waiting specifically for Roger’s train.
Our last open day of 2022 is on September 18th, don’t miss it!
Finally our ‘Adventure Scot’ has taken a video from the footplate of his ‘Soutie’….
