Bits and Pieces and the Farr Trophy

Farr Trophy.
At the ‘Bits and Pieces’ night on November 28th 2023 there were 5 interesting entries for the Farr Trophy.
The members present had a difficult choice when voting for the best example of model engineering skills produced by an ESME  member.
The winner of the Farr Trophy for 2023 is Maurice Popplestone for his highly complex example of a water tube boiler. This has been designed by Maurice and it must have been quite a challenge to silver solder.

There were also two entries which tied for second place.
James Newland who is a newcomer to the world of model engineering showed great skills with his model stationary engine and the near completion multi tube boiler.  Excellent  fine work with all silver soldering on all tubes and bushes.

Also in second place was a neat little 1/12th scale 15″ gauge locomotive together with two wooden coaches. Well built by John Manners.

A very good night supported by the members.
