Take cover !!

The Americans have finally broken out of Normandy and are hard on the heels of the retreating Wehrmacht.  Lying in wait overlooking open ground a hurriedly assembled group of Americans have caught in the open a group of Panzer Officers trying to catch up with their tanks.

The 37mm field gun has caught one of the vehicles full on which is now burning well.  One of the Panzer Officers is trying to reach his wounded comrade while other members of the group give covering fire.

The Panzer II Ausf.C is trying to get into position to fire on the Americans, but due to its thin armour it is highly vulnerable.  Its main gun is a 2cm Kw.K which can still give a good response to what those Americans have.  Its secondary weapon is the MG34, a highly respected weapon as it can lay down a devastating rate of fire of 800 to 900 rounds per minute.  The Americans want to stay well out of its way!

Our intrepid war photographer Alastair Wright was there to record the brief engagement.

The models are all 1/6th scale.  The figures are mainly from DID Corporation (https://www.did.co/) and are the most realistic on the market.  The facial detail is amazing.  The American commander of the anti-tank gun is modelled on Brad Pitt.

All of the American equipment is radio controlled, ready to run from ROC Hobby (https://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/brands/roc-hobby).

The German equipment started life as inert plastic kits by Dragon.  These are no longer available.  However, I decided that I could instal full radio control & make them run.

The Kubelwagen has been grafted onto a Jimny Chassis made by FMS and its story can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICEZgVZ6d6k

The Panzer II Ausf.C has utilised the system installed in the Heng Long 1/16th scale ready to run tanks and its story can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiPlvk9Mg2Y

The body of the Jimny left over from the Kubelwagen project has been converted into a destroyed vehicle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48eXSlX5d1c

These models compliment the Armortek Tiger 1, Panther Ausf.G & Pershing allowing some quite realistic dioramas can be set up.
