Santa Trains At Bo’ness

‘Tis the season to be merry and certainly the first Santa event was blessed with dry weather and a good turn out of excited children – young and not so young.

We were in steam and set up early and by 09:15 had taken our first passengers.  From then on it was steady until 15:00 when the last full size train had departed.

A quick calculation determined that we had taken over 240 passengers.  A good result.

The SRPS had made some additions to the entrance with coloured lights and an illuminated sign which with our efforts to decorate the train and surroundings contributed to the festive atmosphere.  The only technical glitch was the breakdown of the oven in the SRPS staff coach which meant the mince pies were cold.  Despite our best efforts to find a safe location on ‘Grace’ upon which to warm them, we had to make do with cold pies!
