The Society was invited by the Isle of Bute Trust, to bring our portable track to Rothesay to run and carry passengers in the Winter Gardens over the last weekend in August.
Due to a slight mishap when docking the PS Waverley at the Rothesay Pier which suspended operations for the weekend, visitor numbers to the Island where significantly reduced. This in turn affected our passenger numbers. However, we did carry in excess of 350 passengers over the two days and the weather was just right.
Stuart Oliver’s LSWR 0-4-4 was hauling passengers whilst Peter Arnold and Roddy Watson made up a small display of 5″ and 7.25″ locomotives.
