Almondell is continually evolving thanks to the dedication of members who turn out to undertake the hard graft associated with civil engineering work and building and laying track. We are grateful to all those companies that have sponsored our activities either with a financial donation, plant and machinery, materials, mains services (electricity and water) or labour.
We are often asked ‘Why do you do it?’ The answer is for the camaraderie, the enjoyment and the sense of achievement when we see the progress. As one member put it, ‘it’s well worth the aches and pains!’
During the project there have been quite a few intensive weeks of activity when we have had the use of earth moving machinery, often loaned to us and sometimes hired.
